The Seedling Mentor Portal

Seedling

Maintaining accurate records of visits is required by Seedling’s school partners and grant reports. Accurately reporting hours served by Seedling Mentors proves the scope of impact you are having across the Austin metro!

The Mentor Portal is a tool that documents your weekly mentoring hours. Its use is a requirement for mentoring with Seedling. Your Mentor Director sent you a link and instructions when you had your first visit; if you no longer have the link, just ask your Mentor Director to resend it. After your login has been established, we encourage you to bookmark MentorPortal.net

One benefit of the Mentor Portal is the home page, where messages from your Mentor Director are displayed. It is a useful tool to keep messages from being overlooked in your email. While some schools ask mentors to sign in via sign-in sheets or binders, those are specific to campus use only. Seedling tracks your mentoring visits only via the Mentor Portal.

Another benefit of the Mentor Portal is the notes field.  Here you can enter what YOU would like to remember about your visit – perhaps a prompt to bring a game that your mentee particularly enjoyed. Although your Mentor Director can review these notes, they do not review Mentor Portal notes daily. If something is time sensitive or you would like to have a discussion with your Mentor Director regarding your match, you should always contact them directly.

For consistency and ease of use, it’s recommended that you document your visit once in your car after you leave the campus. The most important thing is that you remember to document your time weekly.  One minute spent updating your Mentor Portal each week ensures Seedling can keep serving children impacted by parental incarceration in Central Texas for years to come.
